The Girrard era garden scenes moved in the direction of domesticity and ordinary life. Mind you, these were neither planted nor formal gardens, but rather evocations of a natural area of flowers, blossoming trees and color one might happen upon in the country.  The Cottage is a beautiful example of  impressionist work by Thomas Kinkade under the Robert Girrard signature.
